Clean Sweep for BAR’s Conrad Clark: 3 wins in 3 races at Shougang GT Circuit for FIA China F4 Round 4

BlackArts Racing’s Conrad Clark has now extended his 2019 FIA China F4 winning streak to 6 wins in 6 races, thanks to another hat trick weekend for the 16-year old Kiwi. Clark won all three races in the Chinese Formula 4 Championships debut at the new Shougang GT Circuit in Qinhuangdao, China.

The circuit had its first racing event just last weekend, for China GT, but this weekend’s F4 event was the first time formula cars had taken to the track. With 17 turns, the track presented a brand new challenge for the Formula 4 drivers. However, with the combination of Clark’s talent and the support of the BlackArts Racing team, the young driver adapted quickly to the new circuit.

In qualifying, Clark and Kent He traded off for pole position until Clark went out for his final run and had to pit for a fuel flow issue. However, he took a close 2nd in qualifying to start on the front row for Race One on Saturday afternoon.

On the race start, Clark pressured pole sitter Kent He into driving off turn one, with Clark taking the lead and opening a 16 second gap, before settling on a race pace for the remainder to take the win. Sunday morning’s race two was a similar story, with Clark starting on pole as the result of Saturday’s win, to lead flag to flag for a nine-second win.

Race three on Sunday afternoon was reverse grid, with Clark starting from the back of the field- however, by the beginning of the second lap he had passed the entire field to go on to win the race by over ten seconds.

Conrad Clark: “I’m pretty stoked with the weekend! The track here is pretty cool, very unique in its location and layout and I’ve really enjoyed racing here. Once again I need to thank the BlackArts Racing Team, they’ve done a stellar job all weekend, even when we had a few issues earlier in the weekend.”

Pete Olson: “On behalf of the BAR Team, I want to give a well-deserved congrats to Conrad. We came to a new circuit with very minimal preparation material available, no data to go on, etc. But after some track walks and Conrad’s feedback on the car, we were able to make a couple of changes to improve things and once that was set, Conrad really shined. I expected he could win all three, but of course for him to go out and do it is another thing. He had excellent feedback and quickly goes out and applies the recommendations we can make from the data. I am really looking forward to coaching him in Shanghai where he has an outstanding chance to take the series win.”

The young Kiwi has extended his Driver Points lead to 86 points over second place.

Round 5 will take place at the famous Shanghai International F1 Circuit on September 7th-8th. Please visit www.blackartsracing.com for more information on the team or on facebook at: www.facebook.com/blackartsracing/BAR.
