September 17, 2017

Zhuhai International Circuit-

Three years.
Three Asia Formula Renault Driver Championship wins.
Three Asia Formula Renault Team Championship wins.
Such is the success story of BlackArts Racing.

This weekend, back at BlackArts Racing team’s home track, Zhuhai International Circuit, BAR [BlackArts Racing] entered no less than 9 cars onto the grid for the AFR [Asia Formula Renault] season finale.

For this weekend’s Round 6 of the 2017 Asia Formula Renault Championship, BAR featured A Class Formula Renault 2.0 drivers Louis Prette, Neric Wei, Pavan Ravishankar, Thomas Luedi, David Pun, Brad Dias, Luo Kailuo, Ryan Liu, and B Class driver Hua Miao.

In Friday’s two Official Practices, the team took strong results with Ravishankar and Prette up towards the top of the timesheets.

Saturday morning’s 9:15am qualifying gave the team something to cheer about before the first race even started, with Pavan Ravishankar taking his second Asia Formula Renault pole position at a blisteringly fast 1:35.382 despite the hot conditions, and BAR’s Louis Prette taking pole for Race Two.

Saturday afternoon, still under hot and sunny conditions, Ravishankar finished his season in outstanding fashion, leading from the very start of Race One until the checkered flag to take his maiden Asia Formula Renault win while setting the fastest lap of the race. Teammate Louis Prette rounded out the podium in P3; meanwhile BAR’s Neric Wei took the Master’s Trophy, and BAR’s Hua Miao took the B Class AFR trophy with a 3 second per lap gap to the second place B Class Formula Renault.

In Sunday’s Race Two, Prette finished 2nd with Brad Dias taking 6th, to give BlackArts Racing enough points to take the 2017 Asia Formula Renault Team Championship [BAR’s Charles Leong had won the driver’s championship in Round 5]. BAR’s Thomas Luedi took the Master’s Trophy for Race Two while Hua Miao again took the B Class win by a wide margin, in the process earning the 2017 Asia Formula Renault B Class Driver’s Championship for BAR.

Pavan Ravishankar: “I am so thankful to the team for all the hard work this season and believing in me like they did. I want to give my most heartfelt appreciation, I feel like we’ve come such a long way while I’ve been in BAR, and I’ve gotten great guidance on the engineering and coaching side that really propelled me to success in racing. Thank you.”

BlackArts Racing can’t rest on its laurels just yet though, as next month the team will head to the new Ningbo Circuit near Shanghai for the final two race weekends of the 2017 China F4 Championship, in which it is currently leading the Driver’s and Team points by a strong margin.
