Josh Burdon heading to Spain for Formula Renault 3.5 Testing
Josh Burdon from BlackArts Racing has successfully won the 2016 Asian Formula Renault Series Class A Overall Champion, alongside with the defending champion for his team. Josh will be heading to Spain to test the Formula Renault 3.5 as the reward from Renault Sport during winter testing. He will be testing in Circuito de Jerez, a 4.428 km racing circuit located close to the city of Jerez de la Frontera, deep within the sherry-producing south of Spain.
After the 6 rounds and 12 races in 2016 AFR Series, Josh accumulated 282 points with 7 champions and 10 podiums in total. Although this is just the first year for Josh to start off his career season in Asia, he maintained a very high standard in battling with the 20 other opponents throughout the series. He also worked as a coach in BlackArts Racing and gave a lot of positive support and tactics to his teammates. As a 24-year-old driver, he is having boundless prospects in motorsport for sure.
“2016 has been a good year for me.” Josh expressed. “First of all thank you to Thomas, Bill, Leo, Rich and all of the crew at BlackArts Racing for supporting me. Big thanks also to my family, friends and supporters. Moving to China has been an education and also very exciting in some ways for me. I'm happy with my championship, no major mistakes from my job finishing with 7 race wins from 10 race finishes. Asia is exciting right now and I am hungry to work hard and turn the momentum from this championship win into more opportunities next year. I am happy to have the opportunity to take part in winter testing in the FR3.5 in Jerez in a month, they are serious cars near comparable to Formula 1 so it is very exciting. A big thanks to Kenneth Ma, FRD and Renault Sport for making this happens.”
