Strong start for Josh Burdon in China Formula 4
May 22, 2017
A perfect weekend for former Asian Formula Renault champion Josh Burdon.
Not only did he claim the pole by 0.334s, but he also completed a hat trick by winning all three races.
Burdon started from pole position in race 1, but was overtaken by Charles Leong and Jianian Zheng. However, he regained first place shortly after, and crossed the finish line with an advantage of 7.7 seconds. Even he got a 5-second penalty for jump start, he still took the win.
Race 2 on Sunday was held in a light shower, and starting from pole again, Burdon led all the way to the end of the race.
Race 3 started with a reversed grid, and this time Burdon, starting from 6th position, was held up by his teammate and Tai’an Lin. He overtook the two halfway through the race, and began chasing the race leader, who was already 4 seconds in front of him. Burdon showed his pace at the final stage of the race, catching the leader by 2 seconds per lap, and overtook to the first place in the penultimate lap, taking his third win of the weekend.
