15-year-old Charles Leong was born in Macau, and his gifted talent in motorsports is totally out of imagination. Since the first race of Asian Formula Renault, Charles had made miracles in his debut appearance. In March 2017, he clocked the fastest lap in AFR history with 1:33.989, which was 1 second faster than former AFR Champion Josh Burdon. Although the compound of the Giti tires had led to a better performance, Charles had proved the potential of Chinese drivers are not always falling behind foreign drivers.

By the second rainy race, drivers tend to drive carefully, but there were still a lot of drivers ran out of track during the race. Charles had made a gap before the safety car was out, but he maintained his pace well enough to stay on top until the end of the race. In the end, Charles won two champions for his first AFR round.

In the following round in Sepang Malaysia, Charles had taken 2nd and 4th place and kept himself on the top of the points table. He treated motorsport racing not just a personal interest, but also the passion and the seriousness towards his life goal. Obviously, he is living in a different and better lifestyle than many other teenagers.

Started picking up his interest in karting by 8, Charles fell in love to racing by then. At that time there was an indoor karting track in Zhuhai, and he made visit every week and started to get addicted to it. From then his father accompanied with him on his route to motorsport racing.

Charles’s favorite F1 driver is Max Verstappen. He thinks the young Redbull F1 driver got so much talent especially in wet race. Last year Max had been criticized as reckless driving, but this didn’t affect his performance and this year he even putting a lot of pressure to his teammate Daniel Ricciardo. In Charles opinion, he thinks Max will be the next Ayrton Senna or Michael Schumacher.
