ASIAN FORMULA RENAULT: BRAD DIAS CLAIMS MAIDEN PODIUM IN RACE 2
Brad Dias started his second Asian Formula Renault weekend finishing fifth and seventh in the two practice sessions at Sepang in the lead Group A.
The BlackArts Racing driver was fifth with a time of 2m09.229s in qualifying as Asia Racing Team's Daniel Lu took pole from Charles Leong and Loius Prette.
Race 1
The first race on Saturday had Dias involved in battles all-through the 10-lap race at the Sepang International Circuit.
The Indian finished seventh in the order, 0.198s behind PS Racing's Victor Liang and was comfortably ahead of eighth placed Kimi King.
At the front, despite the bad start from Lu, the ART's strong machinery allowed him to re-take the position and win the race in a dominant fashion.
BAR's Leong was 4.130s behind in second, with Team KRC's Stephen Hong completing the rostrum positions.
Race 2
Sunday's race put on a delight on the face of Dias, who took his season's first podium finish.
Starting from fourth, the Hong-Kong based Indian was immediately on pace, attacking and defending at the same time in a frantic situation.
The race was eventually decided off the track as several penalties and exclusions meant PS Racing's Victor Liang claimed win.
Prette was second with Dias in third after managing to overtake Leong in the race. The Top 3 were separated by a mere 0.729s.
With Leong leading the drivers' standings on 101 points, Dias improves to seventh on 40 after two rounds in the championship.
The season's next race is scheduled to take place during July 1-2 weekend at China's newest race track, Zhejiang International Circuit.
