BlackArts Racing driver Josh Burdon Shows Impressive Pace in FR3.5 V8

Australian Racing Driver Josh Burdon from BlackArts Racing, who won the overall champion of 2016 Asian Formula Renault, was invited by Renault to test the Formula Renault 3.5 V8 in Circuito de Jerez, Spain, with the Teo Martin Motorsport last Monday morning, and the result was great while Josh feels he is ready for the any potential opportunity in 2017.

As a prize for winning the 2016 Asian Formula Renault Series in such dominant fashion, Josh sampled his first taste of the F3.5 V8 car, a main feeder series for Formula One. With speeds of 190mph, powered by the 530bhp V8 engine, this was a big step up from his previous racing experience. Although Josh only had just 2 official flying laps on dry condition with green tires due to red flag, he was able to make it to P1 for and ended up with P9 for the session.

Josh commented, "It was the most fun I have had in a race car. Jerez is an amazing circuit and it really showcased the cars downforce and capabilities. In testing it was wet and slowly dried throughout the morning which made it difficult conditions learning a new car, track and team all in one morning session. Around 3hrs into the 3.5hr test we went to P1 for a little bit, and ended the session P9. It was tough because after our time we had one set of green tires and because I was only doing the morning session we waited in pit lane until the last 15 minutes so we could do our time in the best driest track condition. Unfortunately there was a red flag which only allowed two flying laps on our green tire so we didn't end with our maximum. I have a big thank you to go out to Renault Sport, Formula Racing Development, Teo Martin Motorsport and Formula V8 3.5"

Emilio De Villota from Teo Martin Motorsport Team Manager commented about the Australian young driver, "Josh had a very impressive, professional approach to the test and we were really happy with how he adapted when working alongside him for the morning session. It was a pleasure to have him test and we are sure he will have a long successful professional career ahead of him."
