Josh Burdon from BlackArts Racing Team took the first win in Shanghai

Asian Formula Renault Series 2016 is going into the second half season, and the first race started at Shanghai International Circuit. There was a total of 18 cars competing under hot and humid weather, including six drivers from Road to Champion Driver Program. As this is the first time for them to race with a real racecar, they all felt very anxious about the race. Although Josh Burdon from BlackArts Racing was taking strong pressure from Maxx Ebenal from Asia Racing Team, Josh was able to keep up the pace and clocked the fastest lap during the 3rd lap with 2:07.727, which is the best lap time in the weekend. New comer Evan Chen from Asia Racing Team also took pressure from Najiy Ayyad from S&D Motorsports, he successfully crossed the finish line 1.036s faster than Najiy and took his first trophy in the debut appearance.

In the end Josh Burdon took the first Shanghai champion and Maxx took the 2nd while Evan took the 3rd. Class B is again dominated by Asia Racing Team for the first two places, Hua Miao pushed until the last second and beat his teammate Jasper Thong by 0.243s. Road to Champion driver Song Xu Je from S&D Motorsports took his first ever motorsport trophy. Master Class was taken by Thomas Luedi from BlackArts Racing.

2nd race will be start on 21st August 3:25pm.
