Josh Burdon debut appearance in AFR Series shocked the crowd
2016 AFR Series first race will be holding on 19th March afternoon in Zhuhai International
Circuit. During practice session Maxx Ebenal and Najiy Ayyad performed well after a year
challenge in 2015. At the same time, Australian driver Josh Burdon from BlackArts Racing
Team made his first debut appearance in the series and he clocked the fastest lap in both
2nd practice and qualifying with 1:36.695.
During the beginning of qualifying, Maxx and Liu Kai from Asia Racing Team had a tough battle
in the lap time, but Josh clocked the overall fastest lap time of 1:36.695 in lap 3, bringing him
to the pole position for the first race. Najiy, Liu Kai, Neric Wei and Pavan Ravishankar from
BlackArts Racing came to a millisecond fight. Although the track condition was not satisfactory,
Najiy pushed the lap time for 0.5s and brought him up to 3rd position.
Class A drivers James Runacres and Liu Kai from Asia Racing Team clocked their own personal
best in the last lap, which maintain the chance to fight for podium. In Class B, Wayne Shen
from Modena Motorsports and Jasper Thong from Asia Racing Team had only 0.03s difference
in the lap time while Francis Tjia from Modena Motorsports stay on 3rd.
AFR Series first race will be holding on 19th March at 2:40pm.
